Privacy Policy

ChatRelay ("the Extension") is operated by Hammoudi Ismail. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1 Data We Collect

• Anonymous User ID: A randomly generated UUID stored locally in your browser to verify your subscription plan. It is never linked to your identity.
• Conversation Messages (temporary): Message text from your ChatGPT conversation is temporarily held in browser local storage to transfer context when creating a new session. It is never transmitted to external servers.
• Session Count: The number of conversation chains created, stored locally to enforce plan limits.
• Billing Email (paid plans only): Collected by Stripe during checkout. We never see or store your credit card details.

2 Data We Do NOT Collect

• Your OpenAI or ChatGPT account credentials
• Your conversation history beyond the current active session
• Any personally identifiable information beyond billing email (paid plans)
• Browsing activity outside of ChatGPT
• Conversation content is never sent to our servers

3 How Data Is Stored

All conversation data is stored exclusively in your browser using chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your device. The only external communication is:

• Plan verification: Your anonymous user ID is sent to our server to check your subscription status. No conversation content is included.
• Stripe checkout: When upgrading, you are redirected to Stripe's secure payment page.

4 Third-Party Services

• ChatGPT (chatgpt.com): The Extension interacts with ChatGPT's interface using your existing authenticated session. No additional authentication is required.
• Stripe (stripe.com): Handles all payments securely. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare Workers: Hosts our plan verification API. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

5 Permissions

• storage: To save session state locally in your browser
• alarms: To manage countdown timers for rate limits
• notifications: To alert you when a wait period has ended
• host_permissions (chatgpt.com): To interact with the ChatGPT interface

6 Data Retention

• Conversation data in browser storage is automatically overwritten with each new session.
• Subscription data is retained as long as your subscription is active, then deleted within 90 days of cancellation.

7 Your Rights

You may request deletion of all your data at any time by emailing hammoudi.ismail@gmail.com. We will process your request within 30 days.

8 Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any changes. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance.
